Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Steamfitter – Pipefitter Trade Certification, Steamfitter – Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, WHMIS, Driver’s License
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

Area of Steamfitting and Pipefitting Specialization: Combustible gas systems, Chemical/petrochemical systems, Steam systems, Industrial processing systems

Area of Sprinkler System Installer Specializations: Pressure vessels

Specific Skills: Determine layout requirements, Cut openings for pipes in walls, ceilings or floors, Select type and size of pipe, Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size, Test system for leaks, Remove and replace defective components, Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping and sprinkling systems, Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment, Rig material and equipment, Operate power lifts, Start up and reactivate systems, Troubleshoot systems
