Skill Requirements:

Education: Not applicable

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness) Training, First Aid Certificate

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English

Type of Construction: Pipelines

Equipment and Machinery Experience: Grinding machines, Torches

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Specific Skills: Load, unload and transport construction materials, Assist heavy equipment operators, Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction, Read blueprints

Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract)

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses/goggles, Gloves, Uniform

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Tight deadlines, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding

Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Confined spaces, Dusty

Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Willing to travel, Willing to travel regularly, Willing to travel overnight, Valid driver’s licence

Skill Requirements:

Education: Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): 1st Period Apprentice, 2nd Period Apprentice, 3rd Period Apprentice, 4th Period Apprentice, Steamfitter – Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate, First Aid Certificate

Experience: Experience an asset

Area of Steamfitting and Pipefitting Specialization: Combustible gas systems

Pipefitting / Steamfitting Testing Methods: Hydrostatic

Type of Piping: Black carbon or steel

Specific Skills: Determine layout requirements, Cut openings for pipes in walls, ceilings or floors, Select type and size of pipe, Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size, Test system for leaks, Remove and replace defective components, Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping and sprinkling systems, Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment, Erect scaffolding, ladders, lifts and other temporary work platforms, Operate power lifts

Additional Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications, Schedule materials, tools and personnel, Liaise with management, engineers and other trades

Security and Safety: Drug test

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
